#8 - And the winner is...
When we were first assigned to start up our own blog, I felt a bit hesitant at the idea. I think I was under the assumption that blogging would just be an extension of a weekly discussion post, which tend to be dry and lack any level of personality shining through. But as this semester has progressed, I realized I was totally wrong and blogging is actually, maybe, slightly, fun. Although we had prompts to follow and requirements to check off, blogging offered the opportunity to get creative and not focus so heavily on trying to sound correct (however you define that). There was less pressure and I never dreaded having to sit down and write a post, which is a win in my book.
Speaking of winning, here are my choices for best post in…
Professionalism: Blog Post #1 – The Digital Landscape
Seeing as this was my first post, I definitely leaned more into the professional aspect in including sources and evidence and really hitting all the requirements 110%. This acts as the first impression of my blog overall, and along with simply getting the hang of it I also focused on showcasing a professional blog.
Multimodal Design: Blog Post #3 – Writing…
Although images were required in each blog, this was my first post where I used more than one image and a GIF. I had not considered using a moving image beforehand, but I wanted to convey a certain feeling in my post that could only be told through something extremely high quality - a SpongeBob GIF.
For
creativity, no post is more deserving than the one that includes a collage
showcasing a bit of who I am. Using my true love Canva, I spent quite a bit of
time putting this collage together and am quite proud of it!
Civic Engagement: Blog Post # 7 – Eco Narratives
Lastly, my blog about our Eco Narratives project takes the award for civic engagement with no competition. In this post, I share the zine I created where I include images and short reviews for the multiple texts I read that focused on environmental advocacy and the importance of civic engagement.
And finally, the final award for People’s Choice goes to… Jayme! (crowd goes wild) Ms. Morgan’s blog was professional, thoughtful, and hiiiiiilarious. I enjoyed her references to the stone ages, I mean high school, a time I remember fondly….or reluctantly.

Aww, thanks Chica! "I feel God in this Chilis tonight."
